Concrete Resurfacing & Stencilling Brisbane
Boost Your Curb Appeal With Concrete Driveway Resurfacing Brisbane
Give Old, Cracked or Faded Concrete a New Finish
Is your driveway cracked, faded or just looking old? We resurface existing driveways, paths, patios and pool surrounds across Brisbane’s southside with a new coloured or stencilled finish, so they look freshly laid without the demolition and mess of a full replacement.
Concrete takes a beating in the Queensland sun and summer storms. Over the years it fades, stains, picks up hairline cracks and starts to make the whole house look tired. Most people assume the only fix is to break it up and pour a new slab.
Often it isn’t. Concrete resurfacing works a bit like nail polish. We clean up and repair the surface you already have, then lay a thin new layer over it in the colour and pattern you choose. The slab underneath stays where it is, and what you see is a fresh, even finish.
Some people call it driveway painting or driveway restoration. Whatever you call it, the aim is the same: concrete you’re happy to look at again, done properly so it lasts for years rather than needing to be redone.

Concrete Stencilling, Spray-On Finishes & Colours
You can keep it simple with a plain spray-on colour, or add a stencilled pattern that looks like brick, stone, tile or another design. Either way, the finish is textured, slip-resistant and sealed to protect it from water and sun. You’ll hear these systems called Stylepave, Covercrete or Spraycrete.
Colours run from light sand and beige tones through to charcoal and terracotta, so you can match your roof, render or garden. A sandstone-effect finish is another option if you’d like a natural stone look. A stencilled finish is permanent, so it pays to get the colour and pattern right the first time. We’ll help you choose when we quote.

Concrete Resurfacing vs Replacement: Which Do You Need?
- Resurfacing suits concrete that’s solid and stable but faded, stained, worn or dated.
- Hairline and surface cracks are repaired during preparation, so a cracked driveway can usually be resurfaced.
- Replacement is the better choice when the slab has sunk, lifted or broken into pieces that move.
- Resurfacing keeps the existing slab, so there’s no demolition or excavation.
- Choose a stencilled pattern or a plain spray-on colour to suit your home.
- The finish is sealed in two coats for protection from water and sun.
- Not sure which you need? We’ll tell you honestly when we quote. If it’s a replacement, see our new concrete driveway options.

Our Concrete Resurfacing Process
Resurfacing changes the look of your existing driveway, path or patio in a few stages:
- Preparation and repairs: We clean the surface and grind it back to remove dirt and any old decorative coating. Grinding gives the new material something to grip, then we repair cracks and damaged areas.
- Primer: Once the surface is clean and dry, a primer goes on to bond the old concrete to the new layer.
- Resurfacing layer. The resurfacing material is sprayed on with a hopper spray gun.
- Pattern: colour and texture. If you’ve chosen a stencil, the pattern is laid over the fresh material, then colour and texture are sprayed on in layers. For a plain finish we skip the stencil.
- Curing and sealing: After the surface has cured, we apply a protective sealer in two coats for water resistance, sun protection and a longer life.
Once the job is finished:
- You can walk on it after 12 hours.
- You can drive on it after 5 days, straight in and out only. Turning the wheels on the surface can mark it.
- After 28 days it’s fully cured for normal driving and turning.
The details can change with the finish you pick, the pattern and the condition of the existing concrete. Your quote will explain what your job involves.
It’s vital to remember that the specifics of the decorative concrete resurfacing process may change depending on elements like the choice of material, the design’s complexity, and the existing finish’s state. We recommend discussing your desires with SmartCrete Concreting to achieve the best outcomes and handle any special needs for your project.

Driveway Concrete Resurfacing Brisbane - FAQs
Is resurfacing a driveway worth it?
If the slab is solid and stable, resurfacing gives you a new-looking driveway without demolition, and with good preparation and regular resealing it lasts for years. If the slab is sinking, lifting or broken, replacement is the better long-term choice. We’ll tell you which at the quote.
What's the difference between concrete resurfacing and replacement?
Resurfacing keeps your existing slab. We repair it, then cover it with a thin new layer in the colour and pattern you choose. Replacement means breaking up and removing the old slab and pouring a new one, which is needed when the concrete underneath has failed.
What concrete surfaces can be resurfaced?
Most sound residential concrete, including driveways, paths, patios, outdoor entertaining areas, pool surrounds and concrete around the house. It also works over existing finishes: plain, coloured, older exposed aggregate or pebblecrete, and old stencilled coatings once they’ve been ground off. Here’s how we resurface over exposed aggregate. We also resurface paths and shared areas for aged-care villages and private estates.
Can you resurface cracked concrete?
In most cases, yes. Hairline and surface cracks are repaired before the new layer goes on, so the finish looks even. Resurfacing isn’t the right fix if the slab has sunk, lifted or broken into moving pieces, if cracks are wide and still growing, or if water pools or runs towards the house because the levels are wrong. The problem there is below the surface, and we’ll talk you through the options.
How long does concrete resurfacing take?
Most residential driveways take 2 days on site (CLIENT TO CONFIRM). You can walk on it after 12 hours and drive on it after 5 days, and it’s fully cured after 28 days.
How soon can you start?
We’re usually booked 4 to 8 weeks ahead. If you’d like it done before Christmas, before the wet season or before a sale, get your quote in early.
How much does concrete resurfacing cost in Brisbane?
Resurfacing is priced per square metre. The rate depends on the size and shape of the area, the condition of the concrete, whether an old coating needs removing, a plain colour or a stencilled pattern, and site access. Because the old slab stays, there’s no demolition, removal or new pour to pay for. We measure up on site and give you a free written quote, valid for 30 days.
What product do you use?
A cement-based resurfacing system with a polymer-modified overlay, finished with two coats of sealer.
Should I resurface my driveway before selling my house?
The driveway is one of the first things buyers see, in the listing photos and when they pull up for the open home. A cracked or stained slab can make a well-kept house look neglected. Resurfacing gives it an even, fresh-looking finish without the time and mess of a replacement.
Can you resurface a pool surround?
Yes. See our pool surround resurfacing page for finishes that suit bare feet and pool water.
